in the overhead console of a 1st generation 2015 to 2018 Jeep Renegade.

This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the first generation (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and possibly
also the 2019 and 2020 model years) Jeep Renegade SUV in changing a
burnt out map light bulb in the overhead console or upgrading them
both to brighter LED units. Owners of other Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, RAM or Fiat vehicles such as the 200, 300, Pacifica, Town & Country, Avenger, Charger, Challenger, Journey, Dart, Durango, Magnum, Grand Caravan, Fiat 500 500X or 500L, Fiat 124 Spider, Grand Cherokee, Wrangler, Compass, Liberty, Patriot, ProMaster, 1500 and C/V Tradesman minivan may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The compatible replacement miniature wedge base light bulb part number is 2825 (or W5W). You can also use a brighter 2825 LED unit. The only tool needed to access and replace the light bulbs is a small flathead screwdriver or a plastic pry bar tool. |

Silver Reflector Removed |
To prevent from
scratching the plastic surfaces, I recommend either covering the tip of your
screwdriver with a thin micro fiber cloth or instead use a plastic
pry bar tool. Insert the blade of your tool in between the plastic lens cover and the overhead console. Gently pry out the lens cover. You will need to re-insert the tool in several places around the lens cover to fully remove it from the overhead console. Try to avoid using excessive force. The lens cover should pop out relatively easily. For better access to the old light bulbs, you'll need to also pry out the chrome silver colored plastic reflector piece. Set the reflector piece aside in a safe place. |

If the old light
bulb was recently turned on, be careful when you remove it since it might
still be hot enough to burn your fingers. Grasp the old light bulb with your thumb and forefinger before pulling it straight out of the socket. |
