This automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the first generation (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and possibly also the 2019 and 2020 model years) Jeep Renegade SUV in changing a burnt out vanity mirror light bulb in the sun visor.

Owners of other Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, RAM or Fiat vehicles such as the 200, 300, Pacifica, Town & Country, Avenger, Charger, Challenger, Journey, Dart, Durango, Magnum, Grand Caravan, Fiat 500 500X or 500L, Fiat 124 Spider, Grand Cherokee, Wrangler, Compass, Liberty, Patriot, ProMaster, 1500 and C/V Tradesman minivan may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

The compatible replacement sub-miniature wedge base light bulb part number is 74 (also known as 2723 or W2.3W).

If you would like to have a brighter vanity light, install a 74 LED bulb.

The tools needed to complete this procedure include a small flathead screwdriver and a plastic pry bar tool.

Pry Off Mirror Housing
Continue Removing Mirror
Turn Over Mirror
To prevent from scratching the plastic surfaces, I recommend either covering the tip of your screwdriver with a thin micro fiber cloth or instead use a plastic pry bar tool.

Gently pry out the mirror assembly from the sun visor.

You may need to re-insert the pry bar tool in several locations around the mirror's frame to fully remove it.

Turn over the mirror assembly to access the bulb housing.

Pull Off Light Assembly
Set Aside Mirror
Push Out Old Light Bulb
Gently pull the tan plastic light housing off the back side of the mirror.

Use a small flathead screwdriver to gently push the old light bulb out of the socket from the base.

Old Light Bulb Removed
Push In Sub Miniature Bulb
Line Up Mirror Housing

Push a new sub miniature number 74 light bulb straight in to the socket.

The 74 bulb is also known as the 2723 or the W2.3W.

If you want to have brighter vanity mirror lights, install a compatible 74 LED bulb.

(The OEM bulb was marked as T5D 2C 12V W2.3W E1.)

Line up the light housing with the back of the mirror assembly.

Snap On Light Assembly
Re-Insert Mirror Assembly
Snap In Retaining Clips
Gently pop the light housing back on to the rear side of the mirror assembly.

Carefully re-insert one side of the mirror assembly back in to the sun visor.

Then gently snap in the retaining clip on the other side.

Mirror Re-Installed
Test New Vanity Light Bulb
Job Complete!
Make sure that the mirror assembly is flush with the sun visor.

To test the new vanity mirror light bulb, open and close the mirror cover or press the "Unlock" button on the key fob to activate the interior lights.
