This appliance maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the Jenn-Air model number JCD2389GES side-by-side refrigerator and freezer in changing a burnt out light bulb in either compartment or upgrading them all to brighter LED bulbs.

Owners of other appliances made by the Whirlpool corporation including KitchenAid, Amana, Kenmore and Maytag may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful.

The compatible replacement refrigerator compartment light bulbs part number is WPA3073101 which is an E17 (C9) intermediate base 120V 25W. (Or use an E17 LED equivalent.)

The freezer light bulb is Whirlpool part number AP3607217 or 8009 which are frosted or clear Edison E26 medium base 40 watt.

Or you can buy a brighter E26 LED bulb.

No tools are needed to access and replace the light bulbs.

For extra safety, you may choose to unplug your refrigerator. Do not insert your fingers into the exposed bulb sockets!

The first two steps are to open the refrigerator door and move any food items off the very top shelf.

Then gently pull the outer edge of the translucent plastic lens cover grate in towards the middle of the refrigerator.
