in a 3rd generation 2015, 2016, 2017 or 2018 Kia Sedona minivan.

This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the third generation (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and perhaps
also the revised 2019 and 2020 model years) Kia Sedona minivan in
changing a burnt out overhead dome light bulb or upgrading them both
to brighter LED units. Owners of other Kia or Hyundai models such as the Grand Carnival, Sorento, Sportage, Niro, Soul, K900, Stinger, Cadenza, Optima, Rio, Forte, Genesis, Sonata, Ioniq, Santa Fe, Tucson, Elantra and Accent may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The compatible replacement festoon style light bulb is part number DE3175 which is available from various manufacturers such as Sylvania, GE, Maxell and Eiko. You could also use a brighter DE3175 LED bulb. The only tool needed to access and replace the dome light bulbs is a small plastic pry bar tool or a flathead screwdriver. |

To prevent from
scratching the plastic surfaces, I recommend either covering the tip of your
screwdriver with a thin micro fiber cloth or instead use a plastic
pry bar tool. Insert the blade of the tool in between the edge of the lens cover and the light housing near the inner edge. Gently pry out the retaining clips to release the lens cover. Avoid using excessive force. The lens cover should pop out relatively easily. Do not pry near the outer edge to avoid breaking the small plastic tabs. If the old light bulb was recently turned on, it might still be hot enough to burn your fingers. Pull the old light bulb straight out of the socket. |

straight into the socket. If you would like to have brighter dome lights, install some compatible DE3175 LED bulbs. Tip - If you install LED bulbs and they don't work at first, try removing the bulb, rotating it 180 degrees and pushing it back into the socket. Some LED bulbs are "polarized" and will only work when orientated in the correct position. |

Test New Dome Lights |
Line up the
translucent plastic lens cover with the light housing in the headliner. First, re-insert the two plastic tabs on the outer edge of the lens cover. Then gently snap in the two "C" shaped retaining clips on the inner edge of the lens cover over the mounting pegs in the light housing. To test the new dome light bulbs, press on the indentation near the outer edge of the lens cover to activate the "On/Off" switch. Be sure to record the bulb change in your vehicle's service records.
