Headlight Bulbs Replacement Guide
How to change a low beam, high beam, turn
signal or side marker light bulb in a 3rd generation 2011-2016 Kia Sportage.

This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the third generation (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 & 2016) Kia
Sportage SUV in changing a burnt out low beam, high beam, front turn
signal and side marker light bulbs in the headlight assemblies. Owners of other Kia and Hyundai vehicles such as the Optima, Forte, Cadenza, K900, Rio, Sorento, Sedona, Soul, Elantra, Veloster, Sonata, Azera, Tucson, Santa Fe, Genesis and Equus may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. Replacement light bulbs with their part numbers are as follows: Low Beam # H11B, High Beam H7, Front Turn Signal 2357A and Side Marker Light 2825 (or # W5W). No tools are needed to change any of the bulbs in either driver side of passenger side headlight housings. |

The Low Beam
bulb is located near the center of the headlight assembly. Reach in behind the headlight housing and rotate the round black plastic dust cover 1/4 turn counterclockwise before removing it. Set the dust cap aside in a safe place. Rotate the black plastic base of the old low beam bulb 1/4 turn counterclockwise and then pull it out of the socket. |

Insert New # H11B Bulb |
1/4 Turn Clockwise - Lock |
Try to avoid
touching the glass part of the new halogen bulb with your fingers or
anything greasy in the engine bay. If you do get the new bulb dirty, wipe it clean with a rubbing alcohol moistened paper towel. Insert the new H11B bulb in to the socket and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to secure it in place. |

Twist on the dust
cover 1/4 turn in the clockwise direction to secure it in place. The High Beam bulb is located near the center of the headlight assembly. Reach in behind the headlight and rotate the round black plastic dust cover 1/4 turn counterclockwise before removing it. |

Pull Off Electrical Connector |
Set the dust cap
aside in a safe place. Pull off the black plastic electrical connector from the rear of the old high beam bulb. |

Metal Retaining Arm |
Press In & Lift Up Off Hook |
Swing Open Metal Arm |
The high beam bulb
is held in place by a metal retaining arm. Press the right side of the metal arm towards the front of the car to release the tension and then remove it from the hook. Swing the metal retaining arm open from the right side to the left. |

Remove Old High Beam |
Empty Bulb Socket |
Insert New # H7 High Beam |
Pull the old high
beam bulb straight out of the socket. Try to avoid touching the glass part of the new halogen bulb with your fingers or anything greasy in the engine bay. If you do get the new bulb dirty, wipe it clean with a rubbing alcohol moistened paper towel. Insert a new number H7 high beam bulb in to the socket. Due to the shape and metal tab, it can only be inserted in one way. |

Replace Dust Cover |
Swing the metal
retaining arm closed from the left side over to the right side. Attach the right end of the arm in to the metal hook to secure it in place. Double check that the metal retaining arm is secure before moving on to the next step. Replace the round black plastic dust cap by rotating it 1/4 turn in the clockwise direction. |

The Turn Signal
bulb is located near the inner corner of the headlight housing. Grasp the large black plastic tab and rotate the turn signal light bulb socket 1/4 turn counterclockwise. Pull the socket straight out of the housing. |

Turn Signal Socket Removed |
Push Down & 1/4 Turn CC |
Insert New # 2357A Bulb |
Push the old turn
signal light bulb down in to the socket and rotate it 1/4 turn
counterclockwise before pulling it straight out of the socket. Push a new amber colored # 2357A bulb down in to the socket and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to secure it in place. |

Side Marker - Outer Edge |
Re-insert the turn
signal bulb socket in to the housing and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to
secure it in place. The Side Marker bulb is located near the rear outer corner of the housing. |

Bulb Socket Removed |
Rotate the small black plastic tab 1/4 turn counterclockwise and pull the side marker bulb socket out of the housing. | ||
Pull Out Old W5W Bulb |
Re-Insert - 1/4 Turn Clockwise |
Test New Headlight Bulbs |
Pull the old bulb
straight out of the socket and push in a new #
2825 or W5W bulb straight in
to the socket. If necessary, you may also be able to use any other miniature wedge base bulbs such as the # 168, 158, 194 or a compatible LED unit. Re-insert the side marker bulb socket in to the housing and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to secure it in place. Test the new bulbs by turning on the headlights, activating the hazard signals and flashing the high beams. Check out
