Lake Alice is located on Museum road in Gainesville Florida within the University of Florida campus directly across from the Bat House. The lake is preserved by an environmentalist group known as "Alice's Friends". The lake is home to a large variety of wildlife including alligators, egrets, raccoons, snapping turtles, and cranes. Across the street, at The Bat House, over 60,000 Brazilian Free Tailed bats call the structure home year round. Also located just beside Lake Alice is the Baughman Center which is used for weddings, special events and also a quiet study area for students. If you're ever in Alachua county, take a trip to Lake Alice to enjoy it's natural beauty. In May of 2006, I went back to "G'ville" again to visit my brother who is a "Gator" student attending UF.
