Small Notch - Top Edge
This home maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of Marantec or Broten brand garage door openers in changing a dead or weak battery in the small key fob remote control unit.

The compatible replacement coin (A.K.A. "button" or "watch") battery part number is CR2032 which is available from various manufacturers such as Panasonic, Duracell, Energizer, Sony and Maxell.

The only tool needed to complete this procedure is a small flathead screwdriver or any similarly shaped item such as a butter knife, coin, key or nail file.

If you need to purchase a new garage door remote control the replacement part number is Marantec M3-2312 (315Mhz).

Slide Out Old Battery
The first step is to separate the garage remote control key fob unit from your car keys and the metal key ring.

Then locate the small notch on the top edge of the remote control near the larger "Open / Close" button.

Gently pry apart the two halves of the remote control.

Turn over the front and rear halves of the housing.

The coin cell battery is attached to the green circuit board on the back side of the remote control unit.

The new battery should be orientated with the "+" positive side facing up towards you and the "-" negative side facing down towards the green circuit board.

Test New Remote Battery
Make sure the new battery is securely in the socket.

Line up the front cover and back of the fob.

Gently snap together the two halves of the remote control unit.

The two halves of the remote control housing should be flush together at every edge.

If you need to program the remote control, you'll need another working remote and the Marantec Program Connector.

To test the new battery, move to near your garage and press the large "Open / Close" button. You could also press the smaller "test" button to see if the red LED light illuminates.
