This
automotive "how-to" guide was specifically written to assist owners
of the 1st generation (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013,
2014 & 2015) Mazda CX-9 crossover SUV in removing, cleaning
and replacing the A/C system's cabin air filter element. Owners of other Mazda vehicles such as the MAZDA2, MAZDA3, MAZDA6, MX-5 Miata, RX-8, MAZDASPEED3, MAZDA5, Tribute SUV, and CX-7 crossover may also find this guide to be helpful. A few new compatible replacement HVAC cabin air filters with their part numbers include: Purolator C25876, TYC 800111P, FRAM CF10547, NPN W0133-1821502, ACDelco CF2227, Beck Arnley BEC0422151, K&N VF2019 and Wix 24065. No tools are needed to clean or replace the A/C cabin air filter element in a 07-15 Mazda CX-9. |

Release Clip On Left |
The first step is
to open the glove box and then locate the very convenient access panel at
the rear of the glove box.
Push down on the two retaining clips at the top of the access panel to release it and lower it down to the front of the glove box. After you swing down the access door in the glove box, you'll be able to see the white plastic A/C blower motor housing and the rectangular cabin air filter cover. |

Cabin Filter Cover Removed |
Filter Cover Clip Close Up |
Release the cabin
air filter cover by pushing inwards on the retaining clip located on the
left side.
Then swing the left side of the filter cover towards yourself and pull it away from the blower motor housing. |

Slide Out Cabin Filter |
Dirty Cabin Filter Element |
Slide out the old
cabin air filter element from the A/C blower motor housing. If the old filter isn't very dirty, turn it over and tap out the large pieces of debris such as insects, leaves, and dirt. It's also a good idea to use a wet/dry shop vacuum to thoroughly remove any dust on the filter. I recommend buying the TYC 800111P cabin filter since it has excellent reviews on Amazon. |

Push Clip To Secure In Place |
Replace the cabin
air filter's rectangular plastic cover by first inserting the right side
into the slot on the right.
Then push the left side forwards until you hear the retaining clip click into place. |
