This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the sixth generation (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, & 2016)
Mitsubishi Mirage in cleaning or changing the A/C system's cabin air
filter element in the HVAC blower motor housing. Owners of other Mitsubishi vehicles such as the Lancer, Outlander, Galant, Montero, Eclipse, 3000GT, Endeavor, Raider, Diamante, Attrage, Carisma, Colt, Grandis, Magna, Pajero, Space Star and the revised 2017 Mirage may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. A few compatible replacement cabin air filter elements with their part numbers include the following: Wix WP10125, Mitsubishi 7850A002 and GKI CF1282. No tools are needed to access and replace the filter. |

The first few steps
are to sit in the front passenger seat, open the glove box and empty out the
contents. Firmly push the two side walls of the glove towards the center until the plastic side stops can be removed from behind the dashboard. Gently lower the glove box down to the floor mat. Once the glove box is out of the way, you'll see the HVAC blower motor housing and the rectangular shaped filter access panel. |

Slide the old
filter straight out of the slot. If the old filter is dark grey or black and clogged with pollen, dust, dirt, hair, insects, leaves, soot and other debris, it should be replaced with a new element. The three compatible filter choices with their part numbers include the following: Wix WP10125, Mitsubishi 7850A002 and GKI CF1282. If the old filter is relatively clean, just tap out the large debris and remove any fine dust with a vacuum cleaner. |

If your vacuum
cleaner has a crevice attachment, clean out any debris in the filter slot. If the new filter has an "Air Flow" or "Down" arrow, it should be pointing down towards the floor mat. Slide the new cabin filter in to the slot. |
