Qashqai / Rogue Sport Transmission Shift Lock Release Guide
How to manually change the gear selector
from "Park" to "Neutral" in a 2014 to 2021 Qashqai or Rogue Sport.

| This automotive
maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the second
generation 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 Nissan Qashqai
and the 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 Nissan Rogue Sport (USA) in using
the automatic transmission's shift lock release mechanism to change the gear
selector from "P" (Park) to "N" (Neutral) in order to manually move a
disabled vehicle due to running out of gasoline, a dead 12 volt car battery,
needing to be towed or some other mechanical or electrical problem. Owners of other Nissan, Infiniti or related Renault vehicles such as the Rogue, X-Trail, Note, Versa, Altima, Maxima, Sentra, Juke, Kicks, Murano, Pathfinder, Armada, Frontier, Titan, Quest, NV200, Q50, Q60, QX50, QX60, QX80 and Renault Kadjar may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. The only tool needed to access and release the shift lock mechanism is a standard flat head screwdriver.
Place wheel chocks on both sides of the tires and engage the emergency / parking brake to help prevent the SUV from moving unexpectedly. Sit in the driver's seat the locate the small rectangular shaped gray plastic access cover at the front of the gear selector's trim cover near the "P" (Park). |

 White Release Button |
| Insert the blade of
the flat head screwdriver in between the front edge of the access cover and
the gear selector's trim ring. Gently pry out the access cover and set it aside in a safe place. Once the cover has been removed, you can look down into the opening and see the white plastic shift lock release button. |

 Move Gear Selector |
| Push down on the
brake pedal to help prevent the vehicle from moving unexpectedly. Gently insert the screwdriver into the opening. Push down the white plastic button to release the shift lock mechanism. Hold the button down and carefully move the gear selector back from "Park" to "Neutral". Continue to hold the brake pedal down to make sure the SUV doesn't move unexpectedly. Release the emergency / parking brake. Have your assistants carefully manually move the vehicle into the desired position. |

| Once you are done
moving the car, move the gear selector back from "N" to "P". Engage the emergency / parking brake. |

| Pop the plastic
access cover back into place. Make sure the cover is fully seated in the opening and flush with the trim cover surrounding the gear selector assembly. Please
