This
automotive "how-to" guide was specifically written to assist owners
of the 1st generation (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, & 2013) Nissan
Rogue in changing the battery in the combination car key and keyless
entry remote control unit. Owners of other Nissan or Infiniti vehicles such as the Versa, Cube, Sentra, Altima, LEAF, Maxima, Juke, Murano, Xterra, Pathfinder, Armada, Quest, Frontier, Titan, 370Z, G37, M37, EX37, FX37, JX35, and QX56 may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. A replacement coin, "button" or "watch" cell battery is part # CR1620 from manufacturers such as Sony, Panasonic, Energizer, Duracell, Maxell and Lenmar. The only tools needed to change the fob battery are a small jewelers #0 Phillips head screwdriver and a small flathead screwdriver. |

Remove Phillips Screw |
Single Screw Removed |
Notch Near Metal Key |
Turn over the key
fob so that the buttons are facing down and remove the single screw with the
small #0 Phillips head screwdriver by turning it counter clockwise. I recommend buying a jewelers screwdriver set. Set the screw aside in a safe place. |

Pry Apart Two Halves |
Key Fob Separated |
Old Coin Cell Battery |
Insert the blade of
the small flathead screwdriver in to the notch at the edge of the key fob
close to the metal ignition key. Gently pry apart the two halves of the key fob. |

Pry Out Old Battery |
Sony CR1620 3V Battery |
Install New Battery "+" Down |
Gently pry out the
old coin cell battery out of the back cover of the key fob either with your
finger nail or the small flathead screwdriver.
Try to avoid damaging the metal electrical contacts if you use the blade of the screwdriver to remove the battery. |
||
New Battery In Place |
Line Up Halves - Snap Together |
Tighten Phillips Head Screw |
Press a new
CR1620 3 volt lithium battery in to the socket with the positive "+" side facing
down. Line up the back cover with the front half of the key fob and gently snap them together. Make sure the fob is flush together all the way around. Insert the Phillips head screw and tighten it with the screwdriver. To test the new battery, stand next to your Rogue and press the "Lock" or "Unlock" buttons. If the battery is working properly, you should see the parking lights flash and/or hear the horn beep. For more, check out my other
