Hatchback Tail Light Bulbs Replacement Guide
How to replace the brake, reverse & rear
turn signal bulbs in the tail light assemblies of a 2007-2012 Nissan Versa.

This
automotive "how-to" guide was specifically written to assist owners
of the 1st generation 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 & 2012 Nissan Versa hatchback in replacing a burnt out
brake, reverse or rear turn signal light bulb in the tail light
assemblies. Owners of other related vehicles such as the Nissan Tiida, Latio, Cube, Leaf, Altima, Sentra, Maxima, Rogue, Murano, Xterra, Note, Micra, Wingroad, Grand Livina, Pulsar, Sunny, Almera, Aprio, Platina, Dodge Trazo, Dacia Logan, Sandero, Renault Clio, Modus, Twingo and the Grand Livina may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. Replacement bulbs with their part numbers are as follows: Brake (Stop) # 7528, Reverse (Back Up) # 7506 and Rear Turn Signal # 7507.The tools needed to replace any of the bulbs include a flathead screwdriver and a 10mm socket with a 1/4" drive ratchet. |

The first few steps
are to open the cargo area tailgate, move to the side of the vehicle with
the burnt out tail light bulbs and locate the two rectangular plastic access
panels. Then gently pry out the two plastic access panels with the flathead screwdriver and set them aside in a safe place. |

Pull Off Power Connector |
Slightly loosen the
lower 10mm nut with the socket and ratcheting wrench.
Then spin it off by hand to prevent it from dropping down into the cargo area's interior panels. (If you have magnetic sockets, this would be a great time to use one.) The upper 10mm bolt is covered by a wire loom and power connector attached to it. Pull the white plastic part of the wire harness straight off the threaded bolt end. Then slightly loosen the upper 10mm bolt and carefully spin it off by hand. |

Pull Off Tail Light Housing |
Once both of the
10mm nuts have been removed, you can gently pull off the tail light assembly
from the rear corner of the vehicle. Turn the tail light assembly down on to the bumper. To avoid scratching the bumper or tail light, place a towel between them. |

Brake Light Removed |
The black plastic
brake light bulb socket is located closest to the outside edge of the
vehicle. Rotate it 1/4 turn counter clockwise and pull the socket straight out of the tail light assembly. Push the bulb down into the socket and rotate it 1/4 turn counter clockwise before pulling it straight out. Push in a new # 7528 bulb and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to secure it in place. Insert the bulb back into the tail light assembly and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to lock it in place. |

Remove Turn Signal Light |
The orange/yellow
turn signal light bulb socket is located at the center of the tail light
assembly. Rotate the socket 1/4 turn counter clockwise and pull it straight out of the tail light housing. |

Remove Reverse Light |
Press the turn
signal bulb down into the socket and rotate it 1/4 turn counter clockwise
before pulling it straight out. Push in a new amber colored # 7507 bulb and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to secure it in place. Re-insert the socket back into the tail light housing and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to lock it in place. The light grey reverse light bulb socket is located at the edge of the housing closest to the center line of the vehicle. Rotate the socket 1/4 turn counter clockwise and pull it straight out of the housing. |

Line Up Bolts & Holes |
Press the reverse
light bulb down into the socket and rotate it 1/4 turn counter clockwise to
remove it from the socket. Push in a new clear # 7506 light bulb into the socket and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to secure it in place. Re-insert the socket back into the tail light housing and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise. |

Re-Attach Power Wires |
Test the new tail
light bulbs by turning on the headlights, have someone step on the brake
pedal and activate the hazard signals. Line up the threaded bolt ends and metal spikes on the back of the tail light housing with the holes in the rear corner of the vehicle's metal body panels. Carefully push the tail light on to the rear of the vehicle. Hold the tail light with one hand while spinning on the two 10mm nuts. Tighten the nuts with the socket and ratcheting wrench. |
