This
automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist
owners of the first generation (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015,
2016 and 2017) Volvo XC60 SUV in cleaning or changing the A/C
system's cabin air filter element in the HVAC blower motor housing. Owners of other Volvo vehicles such as the XC90, XC70, S90, S80, S60, S40, C30, C70, V90, V70, V60 and V40 may also find these DIY instructions to be helpful. A few compatible replacement cabin air filters with their part numbers are as follows: Mann-Filter CUK 2733, Fram CF10435, MAHLE Original LAK 387, POTAUTO MAP 3015C, Purolator C25840C, TYC 800137C, Beck Arnley 042-2087, Ecogard XC25840 and Denso 453-4029. The only tool needed to access and replace the cabin air filter is a Torx T25 star bit screwdriver. |

Slide the old
filter out of the slot. You will need to bend the old filter towards yourself to get it past the obstructions. |
||
|
||
Inspect Both Sides |
Clean With Vacuum |
|
Inspect both sides
of the old filter. If the old filter is dark grey or black and clogged with dirt, dust, leaves, insects, pollen, soot, sand, twigs, hair and other debris, it should be replaced with a new element. I recommend buying the Mann-Filter CUK 2733 since it has excellent reviews on Amazon. If the old filter is relatively clean, just tap out the large debris and remove any fine dust with a vacuum cleaner. |
||
Empty Filter Slot |
Slide In New Air Filter |

Orientate the new
air filter with the "Air Flow" arrows pointing towards the rear of the SUV. Slide the new air filter in to the slot. |

place. Double check that the filter cover is secure. |

||
Push On Fuse Box |

Push on the top
edge of the fuse box until the retaining clip "clicks" securely in to place. Push the blue plastic electrical connector back in to its socket. Replace the footwell carpet. |

If you disconnected
the footwell light, push the power plug back in to place. Raise the under dashboard panel up towards the glove box. Re-insert the metal friction fastener on the rear edge in to its socket. |
||
Two Plastic Fasteners |
Replace Left Screw |
Tighten Right Screw |
Push the two
plastic friction fasteners on the front edge in to their slots. Replace the two screws by turning them clockwise with the Torx T-25 screwdriver until they are snug. Try to avoid over tightening the screws to prevent from cracking the plastic panel. |
