A few weeks
ago, I received a colorful envelope from Marlboro and Team Penske
Racing. Inside, there was a voucher for two free tickets to the
Firestone Indy 300 race to be held on Saturday, October 10th at
Homestead-Miami Speedway. We arrived at noon and waited in line for about an hour to exchange our voucher for the free tickets at the Team Penske hospitality tent. Unfortunately we weren't one of the lucky first 1,500 fans to also get free "Paddock Passes" but we were given mesh backpacks full of Team Penske gear. We later purchased the paddock passes from the ticket windows for $25 per person. Before the Firestone IndyCar 300 race at 4 PM, we watched the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series "Grand Prix of Miami" championship race at 1 PM. |

Before the Firestone Indy 300 race started at 4 PM, we walked around the paddock areas to get a closer look at the IndyCar race cars. All of the vehicles are powered by Honda engines with Honda engineers helping to tune the cars before each race.

During the race, I captured a series of short video clips with my Canon S5 IS digital camera. I edited these together into one short movie that can be viewed by clicking on the blue link below. The video is encoded in the Windows Media Video (WMV) format, runs about 3.5 minutes long, and has a file size of 55 MB. To download the video to your hard drive, right click on the link and choose "Save Target As" or "Save Link As".
