We were lucky enough to visit Hilo over on the rainy side of the Big Island during a rare sunny day. Besides the tiny Coconut Island Park we also explored the Queen Liliuokalani Park and Japanese Garden located near the airport and with a view of Hilo Bay. The major attraction at Little Talbot Island State Park, located about 25 miles north east of Jacksonville, is the more than five miles of white sandy beaches.
