This automotive "how-to" guide was specifically written to assist owners of the first generation (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and possibly also the facelifted 2011, 2012, 2013 & 2014) Ford Edge CUV in replacing a burnt out overhead map light bulb.

Owners of other Ford, Lincoln or Mercury vehicles such as the Taurus, Fiesta, Fusion, Focus, Mustang, Flex, Ranger, F-150, Escape, Explorer, Expedition, MKZ, MKX, MKS, MKT, Navigator, Milan, Mariner, Mountaineer, Grand Marquis & Town Car may also find this guide to be helpful.

A replacement overhead map light bulb for the 2007-2010 Ford Edge is part # 2825 from various manufacturers including Sylvania.

If you would like to have brighter map lights, install some compatible 2825 LED bulbs.

The only tool needed to complete this procedure is a small flathead screwdriver or a plastic pry bar tool.

I tried to use tweezers to remove the map light bulb, but it turned out to be too difficult.

Trying To Remove Bulb
The first step is to gently pry off the clear and translucent lens cover that spans across both overhead map light bulbs.

Insert a small flathead screwdriver in between the lens cover and the side of the overhead console.

Bend Down Reflectors

It was impossible to remove the map light bulbs with tweezers and coating the tweezers in sticky tape didn't help either.

I finally had to gently bend down the aluminum reflector away from the bulb.

Then it was easy to just pull the bulb straight out with my fingers.

Push in a new # 2825 bulb and test it by pushing on the white button before replacing the reflector and lens cover.

If necessary, you may also be able to use any other miniature wedge base bulbs such as the number 168, 158, W5W, 194 or a compatible LED bulb.
