Ollantaytambo Incan Town -
Sacred Valley, Peru
Pictures and visitor info from a trip to
the Incan town of Ollantaytambo in the Sacred Valley, Peru, South America.
Ollantaytambo
is a small town located on the way from the city of Cusco towards the
beginning of the Inca Trail. It is about two to two and a half hours or 80 km away from Cusco by bus. From the town of Ollantaytambo, you have the choice of either beginning the four day hike on the Inka Trail to Machu Picchu or you can take the expensive train ride. The train to Machu Picchu leaves from the "Estacion de Tren Ollantaytambo" located in the Southern end of the town. The "Camino Inka-Inka" trail also begins nears the railroad tracks by the train station. If you have time, go see the ruins of Ollantaytambo before beginning the hike to Machu Picchu. |
